Thomas Drake-Brockman (born in 1994, from Western Australia) is a student doctor, emerging medical researcher, and software engineer, focussed on improving the lives of sick and injured children.
Thomas will be entering into their final year of the Doctor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia. This follows undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Philosophy, with First-Class Honours. Their honours thesis was completed in 2015 with the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Perth.
At this stage in their studies their current interests include Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine, as well as new specialist areas such Transgender Medicine. “In some areas I feel I have an advantage by being LGBTIQA+, as I have greater insight into the challenges that people face, more credibility, and can provide genuine understanding.”
Thomas has had 14 articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals, including The Lancet, the British Journal of Anaesthesia, JAMA Pediatrics, and Pediatric Anesthesia.
