In 2020 the Tea Uglow Scholarship has been awarded to Hayden Moon. Hayden graduated Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Theatre and Performance Studies at University of Sydney in 2019 with a first-class Honours grade. Hayden is commencing their Doctor of Philosophy in 2020.

Hayden’s academic results have been outstanding, and they have received the 2018 and 2019 Bernard Lee Scholarship for blind Students, the 78ers Legacy Fund Scholarship in 2019 and the 2019 University of Sydney Honours Scholarship. In 2020, Hayden was awarded the Out For The Next Generation – Student of the Year award in Out For Australia’s 30 Under 30 Awards.

In terms of community engagement, Hayden was the Disabilities Officer for the Student Representative Council at Sydney University in 2019 and is currently on the committee of the Sydney Queer and Disability Community Group (SQuAD). Through these positions they have advocated for inclusivity of people with disabilities at Queer events. He is one of the first openly trans Irish dancers to compete, and continues to advocate for more inclusive Irish dancing culture and in sports more broadly. He is also a member of Trans Action Warrang and ACON’s Trans and Gender Diverse Advisory Group.
