Perpetual Named Scholarships

The Australian Marriage Equality Scholarship was created through an enduring impact grant from Australian Marriage Equality. The scholarship celebrates the achievement of marriage equality and the efforts of so many to get us there.

The Australian Marriage Equality Scholarship (awarded in perpetuity) is awarded to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+ students or LGBTQIA+ students from rural, regional or remote Australia.

To inspire others to give in accord with their means, in September 2024 Cornerstone members Dr Craig White and Rod Anderson announced an additional $1 million gift to The Pinnacle Foundation to fund three scholarships to be awarded in perpetuity. Craig and Rod were partners for 29 years, and married for one year. Craig affectionately joked that marriage was not something to rush into!

Craig received a scholarship as a young man from a country town in Tasmania. It was a scholarship that saved him and gave him the confidence, learning and connections to live a great and fulsome life, always contributing to the community. Craig went on to a 30-year career in senior roles in public hospital and health system leadership, ultimately becoming Tasmania’s chief health officer and chief medical officer.

Tragically, Craig passed away in November 2024. Craig’s tireless commitment to The Pinnacle Foundation’s purpose to educate, support and uplift young LGBTQIA+ Australians to realise their full potential will live on through the perpetual scholarships he and Rod have so generously bestowed. We mourn the loss of a kind, caring and loving man – a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. His passion and generosity will long inspire us all. Watch Dr Craig White’s speech here.

The Dr Craig White & Rod Anderson Scholarships are awarded to eligible scholars from Tasmania.

Greg Livingstone is non-executive chair of The Pinnacle Foundation and a Cornerstone donor. At the 2025 Cornerstone and Patrons’ dinner, Greg announced he was donating a further $375,000 to enable the awarding of The Greg Livingstone Scholarship in perpetuity. Greg reflected powerfully on his life, and the opportunities he had. He shared how he had quietly made a bequest to The Pinnacle Foundation in 2016. After subsequently meeting Pinnacle co-founder, Sean Linkson OAM, Greg asked himself, why do I wait to have a positive impact, and in 2017, became a Cornerstone donor and named a scholarship.

Greg joined the board of The Pinnacle Foundation in 2019, and was appointed chair in 2022. After having been extremely moved by fellow board member, Dr Craig White and his husband, Rod Anderson’s generous donation in 2024 to create three perpetual scholarships, just weeks before Dr Craig White tragically passed away, and having been further inspired by Pinnace Cornerstone donor, Jess Bastow subsequently creating two perpetual scholarships, Greg again asked himself, why do I wait? The Greg Livingstone Scholarship is open to all eligible Pinnacle scholarship applicants.

Jess founded and leads some of Western Australia’s highest quality and most celebrated residential home building companies, as well as managing an extensive global property portfolio and a diverse investment portfolio. Jess is deeply committed to giving back and seeing young LGBTQIA+ Australians thrive. She is a Cornerstone member of The Pinnacle Foundation and has already generously funded 12 Olrem Pinnacle Foundation Scholarships.

Jess along with her family have created The Jessica Bastow Scholarship No. 1 (to be awarded in perpetuity) to honour Jess’ significant and sustained community and business contributions. Every day, Jess shows what is possible, overcoming challenges and inspiring others to strive to realise their full potential.

The Jessica Bastow Scholarship No. 1 (awarded in perpetuity) is open to eligible Western Australian scholars studying either medicine or law.

Jessica (Jess) Bastow is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a successful businesswoman. She is a Cornerstone member of The Pinnacle Foundation, already generously funding 12 Olrem Pinnacle Foundation Scholarships and The Jessica Bastow Perpetual Scholarship (No. 1).

Jess has now created a second Jessica Bastow Scholarship (to be awarded in perpetuity) to help ensure that The Pinnacle Foundation’s work to educate, support and foster community for young LGBTQIA+ Australians in need continues sustainably into the future.

Jess has seen first-hand the impact of the Pinnacle program and recognises that access to an education, the wise counsel and support of a mentor, and the welcome embrace of the Pinnacle family, makes a lifetime of difference to beneficiaries – and at the same time enriches wider society. It is for these reasons that Jess has now generously bestowed The Jessica Bastow Scholarship No. 2 (awarded in perpetuity).

The Jessica Bastow Scholarship No. 2 (awarded in perpetuity) is open to eligible Western Australian scholars studying either medicine or law.

Social purpose organisation UnLtd rallied the media, marketing and creative industries to create The Sam Smith Scholarship. The scholarship honours one of the most energetic, driven and generous men to work in the digital media industry, who sadly lost his battle to brain cancer in 2020.

The Sam Smith Scholarship powered by UnLtd (awarded in perpetuity) is awarded to LGBTQIA+ students studying in the fields of marketing, advertising, technology or communication.
