Bachelor of Mathematics
Hi! My name is Tarsha, and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics at Western Sydney University. I have just completed my first year of study, with two more years of my undergraduate to go. After I complete the rest of my degree, I will be completing a postgraduate Masters of Secondary Teaching, to become a mathematics teacher in secondary schools.
As the first in my family to attend university, I am passionate about becoming a positive role model and supporter for young people like me, and I aspire to help young people from all backgrounds to become the best versions of themselves. I hope to make a difference to LGBTQIA+ youth, by creating a safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth and becoming the representation I know I needed when I was younger. As well as this, with STEM industries being largely male dominated, it’s important to me to become an example of a successful woman in STEM and encourage young girls to engage with and pursue careers in this industry.
I will forever be grateful for the opportunity granted to me from The Peter Brennan AM & Michael Lynch Scholarship, and their investment in my future.
