Ruchira (he/him)

Hi, I’m Ruchira (he/him)! In 2024, I will be entering the second year of my Juris Doctor at UNSW, with two more full-time years following that. I study at the Kensington campus. My studies thus far (BA, VCE) have specialised in racial affairs, legal institutions and allyship for First Nations justice. I also have a strong interest in the role businesses can play to promote and support human rights causes.

I deeply believe in the power of education to tackle the major challenges societies and businesses face. I envisage to combine my humanities and law degrees to educate and inspire others to advocate for reform both inside and outside the legal system. Ultimately, I plan to be a law professor who will teach, research and maintain and active presence in the community. As part of my advocacy, I want to bring to the forefront the issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community, and thus applied for the scholarship to 1) support my studies and 2) develop the connections and confidence necessary to be an excellent role model and advocate within the community.
