Jye (he/him)

Hi, my name is Jye, and I will be commencing my second year (of five) of a Bachelor of Biomedical Science/Doctor of Medicine at the University of New England in 2024. I grew up on the Central Coast, NSW, and whilst that may be between the two largest cities in NSW it always felt quite disconnected, especially from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Since commencing university, firstly a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Newcastle and now continuing my study of Medicine, I have been so fortunate to meet some of the most amazing, supportive, and encouraging group of people, most notably my best friend, Ash. Having amazing friends and family around me has been the driving force behind my studies and career aspirations and I could not be luckier!

Living in a regional community has been a challenging adjustment and I am so grateful to The Pinnacle Foundation for awarding me this scholarship and giving me the opportunity to join the Pinnacle family. Having the opportunity to connect with other queer individuals and mentors to support each other through our studies is invaluable and will afford me the opportunity to give back to my university and local community.
