Rod is an executive leader and strategic advisor with 30 years’ experience in the cultural sector in Australia and the United States, working across governance, strategy, communications and philanthropy. He holds a PhD in fine arts from the University of Melbourne and a graduate certificate in social impact from Swinburne University, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rod has held senior leadership roles across major cultural organisations including director, external relations at the University of California Art Museum and most recently, as chief of staff and director, governance and strategic planning at Museums Victoria.

He has more than 15 years’ board experience with organisations spanning social inclusion and the arts, including Arts Access Victoria, Chamber Made and the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.

Rod is a photographer and open-water swimmer, and lives in South Melbourne with his husband Mike.
