Yvonne (she/they)
Bachelor of Psychology (Extended Major) - University of Western Australia
Olrem Scholarship, WA
My name is Yvonne and I’m a proud transgender woman. In my life I’ve always strived for social justice and equality in all areas, whether in my interpersonal relationships or striving for ideas greater than myself. I love being kind to others and supporting their journeys that reflect my own personal growth and desire for everyone to achieve their potential.
Currently I am enrolled in the University of Western Australia because I hope to share my generosity through the extended major of psychology. Within this field I aim to support both Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ people through scientific research and clinical application, to facilitate an accepting and nurturing world for everyone.
In my personal life I am extremely passionate about my hobbies, whether its celebrating a formula one Ferrari win or quietly tending to my Lego sets, I love being able to express myself through even the little things in life. It has been a challenging journey throughout the beginning years of my transition, particularly with the social and workload pressure of school in 2022, but through my determination I have been able to flourish into the person I am today. It wasn’t easy taking those first steps towards becoming my true self, but all the friends, family, and supportive people in my life have enabled me to now thrive in university.
I want to deeply thank The Pinnacle Foundation, and Jess Bastow for supporting my journey to create a loving and inclusive world for all peoples.
