My name is Will and in 2025 I will be completing the third year of my Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne and plan on completing an Honours year in Finance in 2026.  

I grew up in Australia and completed my VCE studies in 2022. Since high school, I’ve strived to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and representation. I am currently the Vice President at UniMelb’s Queer Commerce Club, running formal corporate networking events with a focus on Queer experiences with distinguished LGBTQIA+ individuals.  

My proudest moment at university so far was being accepted into the Faculty of Business and Economics’ International Case Competition program, where I will be representing the University of Melbourne in Budapest, Hungary in a real-world business competition.  

I applied for The Pinnacle Foundation Scholarship not only for the connections and support of other LGBTQIA+ people but also as I come from a lower socioeconomic background which has posed additional challenges for me to complete my studies. At home, I have been partially supporting my immigrant parents financially as well as providing support when issues like language barriers present themselves. This scholarship will lessen my responsibility and support me in focusing on my studies and career. I aspire to one day build a career in Finance as it is my passion, and help my parents retire early for their hard work in immigrating to Australia and working tirelessly to raise me.
