Shane (he/him)

Hi, I am Shane. I am Sri-Lankan Australia and currently a third year medical student at UQ (University of Queensland). I completed a Bachelors in Science with a major in psychology, prior to moving into medicine. 

I have strong passion for mental health and mental health advocacy. Within my undergraduate, I focused on clinical and evolutionary psychology, finding great interest in these fields respectively. Whilst completing medicine I have particularly enjoyed learning about mental and sexual health and am currently also completing research into COVID-19 related PTSD. 

I hope to pursue psychiatry or general practice, with a particularly focus on queer, immigrant and First Nations mental health. Diverse communities face unique mental health struggles and I hope to be able to provide support to those going through these issues.
