Riley (he/him)

Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) - University of Western Australia (UWA)

Brown-Neaves Family Scholarship, WA

My name is Riley and I am a 3rd year psychology student at Central Queensland University. Starting next year I will be commencing my competitive psychology honours course at the University of Western Australia. I have navigated the mental health system from a very young age, witnessing both the support it can offer and the barriers that can leave people falling through the cracks. I actively engage in advocacy work for a myriad of social movements including: neurodiversity and disability; LGBTQIA+ inclusion (specifically our transgender youths) and First Nation peoples.

I am currently working towards becoming a clinical psychologist, helping those access diagnosis and support. For this, I will need to complete a competitive Honours and Masters program. My areas of interest include neurodiversity, gender and sexually diverse people, anxiety and diverse relationship types, including kink-affirming practice. Outside of my studies, I actively participate in youth-led projects and advocacy, attending conferences such as Fairground 2025 and YACtivate! 2025, where I contributed to conversations surrounding mental health, youth justice and the incoming social media ban for children under the age of 16 years old.

I am based in Geraldton and passionate about supporting my local community. I am proud to say we held our first youth-led LGBTQIA+ event in Geraldton (Pride Tide 2024) due to collaborative efforts from myself, headspace and youth reference group members. My values are rooted in curiosity, appreciation, compassion, tolerance and equality. Working in the field of psychology, these values serve as an asset to me, as I listen, learn and support others.
