Ollie (he/him)

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery

QLD

Hi there,

My name is Ollie, and I am in my second year (of six) of medicine at James Cook University in Queensland. I am incredibly humbled to be a Thrive Scholar for The Pinnacle Foundation in 2023.

Originally from Sydney, I moved up to Townsville last year to pursue my medical studies. I have embraced the easy-going and slow-paced lifestyle up here. I look to move to Cairns in my fourth year. As I am only in second year, I am currently undecided as to what exact field of medicine I would like to work in, or what exact path my degree will take me down. However, I would love to combine my passions for both medicine and environmental reform in some way.

As a member of the LGBTIQ+ community, I have had to develop a lot of courage and maturity at a young age to overcome adversity. I am immensely grateful for organisations like Pinnacle that are working to address the social and economic disadvantages that exist for LGBTIQ+ people.

I would like to thank Pinnacle for the privilege of being a Thrive Scholar this year. I look forward to getting involved with the Pinnacle family with great anticipation.
