Nick (he/him)
Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Global Studies - La Trobe University
The QUBE Scholarship, VIC
My name is Nick and I am currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Global Studies course at La Trobe University in Melbourne.
I applied for The Pinnacle Foundation scholarship to gain support in my journey of turning lived experiences into impactful advocacy. Growing up as a young queer kid in Queensland, I witnessed and experienced firsthand how tough life can be as a member of a marginalised community. These inequalities formed my passion for studies in law reform and my major in human rights and have since only solidified my desire for change.
As one of the first openly queer school captains at my high school I strived to be an authentic and passionate representative for my community and be the role model for other queer youth I never had. In my later years, I have made an effort to continue to be an engaged member of my community, volunteering at my local federal member of Parliament’s office, and several not-for profit organisations focusing on LGBTQIA+ health and gender-based violence issues. I am also completing a Diploma of Languages alongside my dual degree, to further expand my portfolio and gain a rich understanding and appreciation of language and culture. This is an invaluable resource for me as someone who wishes to undertake a career path in diplomacy work at the completion of my studies in two years.
I am extremely grateful to The Pinnacle Foundation and The Qube Scholarship, and look forward to the years ahead.
