Master of Architecture - The University of Adelaide

Mirvac Scholarship, SA

I am currently studying a Master of Architecture at the University of Adelaide’s North Terrace Campus, and in 2025, I have one and a half years left in my full-time program.

I grew up in Victor Harbor and moved to Adelaide at 18 to attend university, but the move also gave me access to more opportunities and resources. Over the past year, I’ve taken on the role of leading a nonprofit organization that focuses on supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. This work involves creating initiatives and providing resources that help foster inclusivity and belonging for the community. Balancing this leadership role with my studies has been incredibly rewarding, though it has also posed challenges, particularly in finding time to support myself financially.

My passion lies in combining my lived experience, community work, and architectural skills to reimagine low-income, social, and community housing. I want to move beyond the current state of housing, which often neglects liveability and aesthetics, and instead create spaces that are accessible, sustainable, and uplifting. I believe well-designed housing can improve mental health and foster stronger communities.

To help me achieve my goals, I applied for a Pinnacle Foundation scholarship. Architecture is a demanding field, and having this support would allow me to focus on my studies and nonprofit work, ensuring I can continue to contribute meaningfully to both my education and the wider community.
