Maddy (they/them)

Bachelor of Communications (Media)

VIC

Hello, my name is Maddy. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Communications (Media) at RMIT University. I am one and a half years in and have one and a half years to go.

I am originally from Gandangara Land (Goulburn), a small town in New South Wales – home of the Big Merino! I moved to Naarm (Melbourne) in March of 2020 to further my academic and creative pursuits.

Outside of studying, I am a stand-up comedian and comedy producer. I am the co-founder of ‘Queerly Beloved Comedy’ an all-queer comedy show that aims to showcase and uplift queer voices in Australian comedy. I am passionate about telling queer stories and inspiring others where I can. Through my studies and artistic pursuits, I aim to build myself a career in the communications, media, arts, and entertainment industry that will help give me a platform to uplift LGBTIQ+ voices.

I am so honoured to have been awarded The Darryl Wild Scholarship. I would like to thank The Pinnacle Foundation for choosing me for this incredible opportunity.  I would also like to thank Louise Fisher and Peter Maher for funding this scholarship. You have changed the course of my life for the better and I hope I can show others the same kindness and support someday. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
