Hi, my name is Leo. I am a transgender man from Brisbane who is studying a Bachelors of Regional and Town Planning at the University of Queensland. I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a career focused on solving problems and after a few work experience opportunities I found urban planning and have enjoyed exploring the field ever since. One of my main career goals is wanting to find a way to integrate urban planning with social justice and inclusion efforts to improve the way marginalised people live and thrive within built environments.

Outside of my studies, I am involved with the LGBTIQ+ community in Brisbane, particularly Open Doors Youth Service where I am the youth representative on the Board and head of the Youth Reference Group. I also enjoy hobbies such as baking, walking my dog, and building Lego.

I would like to sincerely thank Tom Snow for giving me this amazing opportunity through funding this scholarship. There are so many ways in which this opportunity will allow me to further my academic studies as well as my work within the LGBTIQ+ community that would not have been possible before.
