Leo (he/him)
Bachelor of Laws - Curtin University
Jessica Bastow Perpetual Scholarship, WA
My name is Leo, and in 2026 I will begin my first year of study, pursuing a Bachelor of Laws that I expect to complete in late 2029. I am drawn to law because it is a field that benefits from people with diverse backgrounds and varied understandings of the world. I am proud to have received an award from the Law Society of Western Australia for my achievements in Politics and Law in the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR); that recognition affirmed that a legal career is genuinely within my reach.
I have not yet chosen a specific area of practice, and I am intentionally keeping an open mind. No matter which path I select, I will bring a unique perspective shaped by my experiences. I am excited to explore the law throughout my degree and to discover the kind of practitioner—and person—I want to become.
I learned about The Pinnacle Foundation through a previous alumnus, and I was inspired by the messages and the community the Foundation has cultivated. Growing up in Perth was, at times, an isolating experience as a trans person, and I worked hard to create queer spaces in my high school and hockey club. It is energising to now feel connected to many other queer people across Australia, and I am thrilled to be part of the Pinnacle community.
