I am a Sri-Lankan Australian transgender man who travelled a bit when I was a child. I have been in Sydney since 2014. Life was a bit difficult for me growing up in a conservative religious household and moving to a different country. I am glad that I have managed to overcome those challenges. Now, I’m looking forward to my better years.
I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science / Advanced Studies (Animal and Veterinary Bioscience / Gender Studies) at University of Sydney and will go into my second year during 2021.
I want to become a veterinarian and work in veterinary clinics. Or run my own practice. I thought my options would be limited since I am a queer man of colour but I want to succeed and achieve my dreams so I can prove to myself and other queer people of colour that your gender, sexuality, and race (and even, chronic pain) should not limit your career goals. Being who you are is your strength; and I want to embrace everything that I am and become an accredited veterinarian. In the long run I wish to able to create my own veterinary clinic which is queer friendly, provides cheaper services for disadvantaged pet owners, and contributes more to the control and well-being of feral pets. I want to sponsor more fostering and so decrease the euthanisation rate of animals that have a chance at a good life.
