Hi! I am Emmanuel (he/him), a second year Juris Doctor (JD) student at the University of Melbourne. I grew up in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, so now I am excited to be back in Australia for my education and career. Prior to starting my JD, I completed a Bachelor of Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston in the US and worked in the film music industry in Los Angeles for a year.
Outside of my studies, I have been actively involved with my school’s Queer portfolio, serving as the Queer Director for the Law Student Society to create a better sense of community and professional networking opportunities for the LGBTIQ+ cohort. I am also passionate in advocating for racial justice, having volunteered with Reform Los Angeles Jail, Equal Justice in Hong Kong, and currently with Democracy in Colour in Australia. As a queer person of colour, it is my goal to use my legal knowledge to amplify minority voices where we can get closer to a world of justice for the next generation.
With my global experiences, I wish to begin my career in international business law, meanwhile continuing advocating for marginalised communities inside and outside of work. I want to sincerely thank Pinnacle and Justin D’Agostino MH and KC Yeo for this generous gift and opportunity. This support means a lot to me, as I could believe that my goals in bringing change is possible.
