Elizabeth (she/they)

Hello, my name is Elizabeth. I live on Guringai Country with my beautiful partner, our cat, and four mischievous pet rats. I am studying a Master of Research Program in Macquarie University’s Department of History. I enjoy all kinds of history, medieval to now, but my primary interest is Australian history since colonisation to now.

I am considering writing my Master of Research thesis on the Australian rock scene, the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Australia, and gendered readings of war-time nationalism. Whichever topic I pursue, my leading philosophy is that practicing history requires practicing empathy and compassion – towards ordinary people of the past, ourselves, and others.

I am immensely grateful to The Sir James McNeill Trust and The Pinnacle Foundation for the opportunity to focus on my research and tell awesome stories about the past.
