Dilakna (She/her)

Hello! My name is Dilakna, and I am studying for a Bachelor in Engineering at UWA. I will be starting my course in 2025 and then it will be a four-year journey to my dream career in mining.  

I am passionate about the environment, especially what a healthy environment can provide for us and what we can provide for a healthy environment. My proudest moments in life are when I get to be a positive role model for queer POC individuals like me and I am so excited to continue this endeavour through Pinnacle Foundation.  

Being born in Sri Lanka and raised in an immigrant household had sheltered me from the potential of building an ‘identity’ beyond what is acceptable by my culture and religion. To me, nothing felt more liberating than breaking out of that cage and it would bring me so much happiness to share that with others.  

I was introduced to The Pinnacle Foundation, by my high school math teacher, who has been a mentor with The Pinnacle Foundation and who saw my potential and convinced me to apply. I am forever grateful for her and her guidance which helped me get where I am today.
