Coty (they/them)

My name is Coty, and I am proud to be a recipient of a Jessica Bastow Perpetual Scholarship in 2026 as I complete my fourth year of medicine. This represents my penultimate year, and it is to be spent almost entirely on placement at hospitals. I am so grateful and excited to become part of the Pinnacle family. Within my course, I am passionate about health equity and empowerment through enhanced knowledge — for clinicians and patients alike. During my schooling, I have taken up volunteer roles with the university’s medical society (including year rep and equity director) as well as worked for the university in the role of a staff member to engage the younger cohorts in their medical journeys. 

Once I graduate, I have a long pathway before specialisation, but I am currently hoping to gain more experience in sexual health medicine. This would represent an opportunity to give back to the community that has given me a home by working to reduce the inequities in LGBTQIA+ health. Outside of medicine, I am a big nerd who loves reading, writing, and terrible sci-fi television.
