Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of International Relations - Australian National University

Commonwealth Bank Scholarship, ACT

Hello, my name is Chelsea. I am originally from South Australia and will soon commence my second year of a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Relations at the Australian National University. I have a strong passion for understanding and improving systems of governance to ensure equitable outcomes for marginalised communities. Upon completing my degree in late 2029, I aspire to work within the diplomatic corps, in international policy, or in a multilateral organisation such as the United Nations or Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

My interests span several areas, including empowering youth voices, enhancing e-safety, improving mental health service delivery, advancing disability and LGBTQIA+ rights, and developing climate solutions. I hope to contribute to one or more of these policy and regulatory spaces in the future. Additionally, I intend to continue my Indonesian language and cultural studies throughout university and my professional career.

Beyond academics, I have recently returned to Calisthenics (the Australian version), and I enjoy singing, acting, dancing, volunteering for youth organisations, and playing board games with friends. I am deeply grateful to receive the Commonwealth Bank scholarship and look forward to the mentoring provided by Pinnacle, particularly as I navigate the transition to a new city for study. I greatly admire previous scholars and feel honoured to join this network. In the future, I hope to support other ambitious LGBTQIA+ students in achieving their aspirations and connecting with this incredible community.
