Charlotte

Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability & Bachelor of International Relations

ACT

Hi, my name is Charlotte, and I am commencing my first year of a double degree in Environment and Sustainability & International Relations at the Australian National University (ANU).

I grew up on Kaurna land in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, where I developed a strong connection with and appreciation for the natural environment. Furthermore, volunteering with Fauna Rescue SA, predominately as a possum carer, allowed me to connect with Australian wildlife and witness first-hand the distress that anthropological disturbances have on individuals and broader ecosystems. My own challenges instilled me with great empathy for the struggles of others and a determination to relieve these, hence my commitment to animal care.

I am passionate about creating a future of global equality for humanity and the environment alike, and endeavour to pursue a career in biodiversity conservation to restore the earth’s natural balance and protect animals fighting against extinction every day. I am also determined to highlight the intersection between ecosystem preservation and human wellbeing.

My double degree will equip me with both the scientific skills and social, political, cultural, and economic understanding to implement conservation initiatives in collapsing ecosystems globally.

I would like to express my immense gratitude to both BHP and The Pinnacle Foundation for providing me with the opportunity and support to undertake my studies.
