Arne

Arne will be undertaking first year studies at Charles Darwin University in the Bachelor of Law Course at the Darwin, Northern Territory campus in 2021. Having been born and raised in Alice Springs, and now living in Darwin, Arne has formed fond memories living, working and contributing to the growth of the small regional locations they have resided in. Arne is excited to dive into their program of studies and embrace learnings from traditional and contemporary legal perspectives. They aspire to find local work in government policy, providing structural advocacy and reform – such as on the matters of environmental and development management.  

Arne is delighted to be awarded The Allan Howard Scholarship for rural or regional students and sees the value in providing opportunities and representation for LGBTIQ+ people from rural and regional locations, enabling the develop of skills and the competencies to lead successful lives.   

Arne will continue to be engaged with their local community assisting to run City of Darwin’s LAUNCH Skate Program, advocating for the needs of young people – particularly with regards to mental health through their role as a headspace Darwin Youth Ambassador, and through their role playing basketball with Bushrangers LGBTIQ+ basketball club.
