Annabelle (she/her)
Bachelor of Agricultural Science and Bachelor of Arts - University of Tasmania
The Geoffrey Smith & Gary Singer Scholarship, TAS
Hey everyone! My name is Annabelle, and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Policy) at the University of Tasmania’s Sandy Bay campus. In 2025, I will be entering my third year out of a five-year course, leaving me with two years of full-time study to complete.
Having grown up in the inner suburbs of Melbourne with a small veggie patch and a love for cooking, I have developed a passion for food, further fuelled by my concern over the amount of food waste in daily life. This led me to pursue agricultural science, with a focus on sustainably feeding the world’s growing population. I am passionate about reducing food waste and finding innovative solutions to global food security challenges.
One of my proudest achievements is being a swimming teacher for LGBTQIA+ individuals, an initiative I helped launch at the Hobart Aquatic Centre. Additionally, I am part of an all-queer water basketball team, which has been an empowering experience.
I applied for a Pinnacle Foundation scholarship to further my education and connect with like-minded queer individuals. I am deeply grateful to Geoffrey Smith and Gary Singer for their contribution to my journey, and I look forward to the opportunities that come with being part of this supportive community.
