Doctor of Medicine and Surgery - The Australian National University
The Ramsay Health Care Scholarship, ACT
Hi, my name is Angelina, and I am a grateful recipient of The Ramsay Health Care Scholarship! I will commence my Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at The Australian National University in 2025 and graduate in 2028.
I am a proud Queer Cambodian-Lao-Australian from a low socio-economic background and spent the majority of my childhood on the Gold Coast before moving to Canberra for university. I am a passionate health equity activist committed to amplifying diverse, intersectional voices for a more equitable world.
I currently work as a Research Assistant at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, advocate for sexual and reproductive justice at the International Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Consortium, lead the campaign for universal access to contraception at Sexual Health Advocates for Reproductive Equity (SHARE), and champion diverse voices on the Boards of Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT and the Australian Women’s Health Alliance. In these roles, I draw on my research, advocacy, and campaigning expertise, as well as my lived experience and intersectional feminist perspective to create positive systemic change. I applied for the Pinnacle Scholarship as it provided an incredibly generous opportunity to support me in completing my studies and also empower me to continue to advocate for people from diverse backgrounds through my activism.
In the future, I aspire to continue my activism at the intersection of healthcare and policymaking, ensuring that every voice is heard, and everyone can lead their healthiest, most fulfilling lives.
