Bachelor of Information Technology - Queensland University of Technology

BHP Scholarship, QLD

I will be studying a Bachelor of Information Technology at QUT Gardens Point campus in Brisbane, commencing in 2025. After 2025 I will have two years left of fulltime study.

I was born in Windsor, NSW, but have lived in Goondiwindi, QLD, since I was barely a year old with my mother, father, and younger brother. I am a lesbian who enjoys digital art and video games, particularly co-op horror and sandboxes, and will be the first in my family to attend university. Some of my proudest moments so far are finally getting my P’s licence and having my Year 12 Visual Art assessment be selected by QCAA to be used as a high-level exemplar for future students.

I applied for a Pinnacle Foundation scholarship as a way to help alleviate the financial pressures that come with moving for study and studying itself, and for the opportunity to connect with a mentor who has been in a similar situation to me. My aspirations for life mainly surround achieving balance: balance between work and play, and balance between independence and socialising. Part of this is having a job that allows me to support myself and enjoy what I do at the same time, which is something I heavily considered when choosing my degree.
