Amber Jones (they/them)

Hi! My name is Amber and in 2026 I will be studying Diploma of Nursing. I anticipate that I will complete this in 2027. I have a substantial passion for healthcare as someone that has experienced health concerns of their own. I strive to be a source of empathy and compassion to patients in their time of need. I hope to become a nurse in an acute care setting where I can provide the highest standard of care to patients, similar to what I experienced.

I grew up in a small town in Tasmania, where I faced the typical challenges of being part of a closed -minded community. Because of this, I chose to move to Hobart and am now thriving through participation in multiple queer sporting teams. I now strive to help other people connect with their community in these spaces. I am extremely proud to have continued to higher education as someone who didn’t finish college.

I applied for a Pinnacle Foundation scholarship in the hopes to connect with other scholars and mentors and continue to thrive in my studies. I’m extremely grateful to Dr Craig White and Rod Anderson for making this scholarship and opportunity for me.
