Aljo (he/him)

Hi! My Name is Aljo. I am currently in my second year studying the Doctor of Medicine and Masters of Public Health pathway at the University of Melbourne and expect to graduate at the end of 2029. I majored in Philosophy throughout my undergraduate degree where I became increasingly invested in questions of ethics, social justice and politics, especially as these questions relate to the planning and implementation of social welfare infrastructure in accordance with what government and society owe disadvantaged groups.

I hope to merge a future career in medicine and public health with an interest in shaping policy and improving health outcomes for patients on a broader scale. Though I am still in the early stages of my education and am opening to exploring my interests, I am currently passionate about developing a career in psychiatry and hope to treat mental health in vulnerable groups in the future.

In my spare time, you will find me keeping physically active at the gym or playing basketball, socialising with friends and family, reading philosophical literature, playing games or developing my mycology interests in foraging, identifying, growing and cooking different species of fungi.

I am immensely grateful to be a Pinnacle Foundation scholar and am excited to make the most of this opportunity to pursue my aspirations, connect with others who share my values and nurture both my personal and professional development.
