Angel St. James (born in 1998, female, from Victoria) was awarded the Clark Walton Scholarship for 2020. Angel is a returning scholar after completing her first degree – a Bachelor of Creative Arts at the Sunshine Coast University in 2018.  She is now 21 years of age and is commencing her third year of her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Screen Writing) at Victorian College of the Arts at University of Melbourne.

Angel has stated, “My queer identity is innately entwined with my academic goals as it is the primary reason I am pursuing screenwriting- to give back to the LGBTIQ+ community and provide much needed representation”.

In terms of community engagement, Angel is deeply involved in extracurricular activities centred on LGBTIQ+ rights through on-campus collectives, as well as use of her media and script writing skills with Melbourne International Film Festival and Oz Comic Con.
